Artist Statement
I push the paint from the tube and mix with another to accomplish a certain color, adding a third changes it into something completely different...something I may not get exactly that way again.  Looking closely at an object and the way light hits it exposes many colors.  The way an artist chooses to create what they see or feel through their work reveals so much about the thoughts and emotions of that particular artist at that time and is also somewhat of a mystery.  How someone perceives the art is also revealing and scary.  Scary, especially when they are looking at something you've created and spent so much time on.  Every piece is personal, yet meant for others to see.  Sometimes it puts me out there against my will.

My life is about learning, self-exploration through my art.  How can I bring life into my piece?  How can I convey what I am feeling at that particular moment about the subject I am painting or drawing?  Constantly learning about color and application not to make sure it's "right" but to bring a certain feeling to the particular piece.  Sometimes it's good to not over think it as well, to just start painting or drawing without anything in mind.

My work tends to be bright.  Blue is usually always seen somewhere in my work.  For me, blue runs the gambit of emotions.  Pure joy, Love, Peace, Anger, Jealousy, Sadness...all come to me in shades of blue.  It is my favorite of all the colors to work with.

Only recently I have been able to dedicate a large amount of time to my work.  Galleries 1 through 4 and the "Drawings"  page reflect my latest work.  I feel I improve with every painting I complete.  Currently, I have been working on and have completed many portraits.  Trying to bring the real essence of the person is difficult yet fulfilling.  I have also completed a few landscapes.  I haven't worked on landscapes before so they were somewhat of a challenge.  The depth that comes from the layers of paint reflecting leaves & grass etc. is rewarding to look at when finished.  I hope my future reveals complex works that will leave at least one person thinking about it, wanting to look again and again.
